Rules and Regulations
THE 2008 info will be posted soon ... we have left the 2007 info in order to answer some questions you might have until the new forms and complete info is available!
1. Each team will consist of one chief cook at least 18 years of age, and no more than four (4) members. Chief cook is responsible for their team and clean up of their cooking area.
2. Teams which have pre-registered and have paid their entry fee by September 1st may start setting up after 5:00pm on Thursday. All other teams are asked to arrive between 3:00 - 8:00pm on Friday. EVERYONE, INCLUDING COOKERS, must pay admission to the fair grounds. All cookers will be asked to show a SEASON PASS to come in the BARBECUE CONTESTANT entry gate. Season passes are available from any fair queen, at various businesses around the county, or may be included in your entry fees, and called for at the gate upon arrival.
3. Teams will be assigned a non electrical site on a first come basis. Entry fees paid after September 1st must be paid in cash, money order or cashier’s check. NO CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER SEPTEMBER 1. Electrical sites are available only to those cookers entering ALL categories and MUST be reserved by calling 979 -732- 2579. Entry fees for electrical sites must be paid before August 15th.
4. Holes, open pits or ground fires are NOT permitted.
5. Meat may NOT be cooked, salted, seasoned, or marinated before being inspected.
6. Meat MUST be inspected prior to placing it on pit.
7. Teams are required to prepare and cook food in a sanitary manner. Cooking conditions are subject to inspection by the barbecue committee. Infractions identified by such representatives shall be immediately corrected or the team will be subject to disqualification.
8. Each team will be required to submit for each category entered: ˝ chicken; 3 whole ribs and 25 rib bites; 3 slices of brisket and 25 brisket bites; 1 – 16oz. cup of beans.(containers will be provided)
9. NO garnish of any kind, or sauce is allowed in tray at turn-in.
10. NO public intoxication, loud music or unruly behavior will be tolerated.
11. Alcoholic beverages are NOT to be distributed to the general public by contestants.
12. NO ANIMALS allowed in cook-off area, with the exception of Seeing Eye dogs.
13. Only ONE VEHICLE will be allowed in cooking area after set up. Each team will have their choice of ONLY ONE of the following---(1) motor vehicle, (1) motor home, or (1) camper. ALL OTHER VEHICLES WILL BE RESTRICTED TO THE BARBECUE PARKING AREA. (The Barbecue entry gate will be locked at all times except check-ins. Exit other than check-in times must be made through the livestock gate, and there will be no re-entry. If you exit after check-in times, you will be asked to park in the general parking lot.)
14. After set-up, vehicles in the cooking area will NOT be allowed to be moved until after the close of the cook-off awards program except for an emergency.
15. NO BICYCLES, GOLF CARTS or ATV’s are allowed.
16. All decisions of Judges are final.
17. The Colorado County Fair, the Barbecue committee and officials will NOT be responsible for accidents, theft, or mishaps, and reserve the right to amend the rules as necessary.

Go Texan Banner (1st place has the option of entering the
Houston LS&R cook-off; must be a resident of Colorado County)
All registered Eddie Orange Cookers will be entered in a drawing for a $100.00 gift card
Friday entries may join a “Potluck Dish Contest” – Entrants bring your favorite dish to the
registration tent Friday evening, (time to be announced)
judging will take place during potluck dinner party.
Saturday entries may join a Margarita Contest - $5.00 entry fee; on the rocks or frozen; turn in 3:00pm
